About Norma Jean Hershberger
WALNUT CREEK -- Norma Jean Hershberger, 86, formerly of Walnut Creek and Berlin, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek.
She was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Trail to the late Elmer and Ora (Lenhart) Sommers. She was a school bus driver with East Holmes Schools for many years and was a member of Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.
She enjoyed quilting and was a volunteer at Global Crafts in Walnut Creek and Save-n-Serve in Millersburg.
She married Howard Hershberger on Dec. 16, 1944. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2005.
Surviving are daughters, Cheryl (Verton) Yoder of Wooster, Marsha (Keith) Snyder of Sarasota, Fla., and Bonnie (Jim) Mellor of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Victoria Hershberger of Texas; grandchildren, Renae Hershberger, Vincent (Michele) Yoder, Chantel (Matt) Meshew, Chadia Yoder, Charlena (Bryan) Bowling, Kerrie Snyder, Kristi Snyder and Troy (Verna) Dayton; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jared, Emma, Karlie, Kenzie, Addyson and Aeron; a half-brother, Larry (Linda) Schlabach of Wilmot; and a half-sister, Mary Alice (Bill) Pierce of Alabama.
In addition to her husband, her parents; her stepfather, Menno Schlabach; a son, Ronald Hershberger; a brother, Harold; and sisters, Anna Belle and Shirley, preceded her in death.
Services will be Friday, May 18 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church, with pastors Don Hamsher and Dan Owolabi officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the church or one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
