About Norman Patrick
Norman was one of the early settlers of Sunbury. He went to the Trenton Township about 1808 on horseback and located his home on land which later became the Burt Moore farm. In 1830, he owned the Sunbury Tavern, the second one in town. His house in Sunbury became the first post office in the nation to offer rural delivery of mail. He and his brother, Joseph, were recognized as one of the earliest settlers in the town which originally was known as Trenton Township.
He was a veteran of the War of 1812 which occurred between the United States and Great Britain. He served in Captain Henry Slack's Company from August 24 to September 25, 1812.
