O V Rawlins

O.V. Rawlins, Sr., age 74, a retired horseman, widower of Sophia Lee Walling Rawlins, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Bourbon Community Hospital, in Paris, Kentucky. He was born February 22, 1935, in Richmond, Kentucky, the son of the late Alfred and Lillian Rison Rawlins, and was a member of First Church of God, in Irvine, Kentucky.

Mr. Rawlins is survived by: three daughters, Billie (Eddie) Barnett, of Bourbon County, Lillian (Ronnie) Poynter, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Betty (Mike) McCord, of North Middletown; four sons, O.V. (Tammy) Rawlins, Jr., of Bedford, Virginia, Teddy (Lori) Rawlins, of Bourbon County, Benny (Kathy) Rawlins, of Bourbon County, and Ray (Rene) Rawlins, of Fayette County; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Sam Campbell, with burial at Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be O.V. Rawlins, Jr., Teddy Rawlins, Benny Rawlins, Ray Rawlins, Mike McCord, Ronnie Poynter and Eddie Barnett. His grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
