Oley attended Weber Academy in Ogden where he became acquainted with Fred Romeril. This friendship proved to be fortuitous as Oley made the acquaintance of Fred's sister Fanny. Ten years later they were married.
During the ten years prior to his marriage, he was called 18 January 1896 to a mission in the Southern States. After his marriage to Fanny Romrell, they bought land from his father in Clinton (later West Point). They lived in Hooper until 1905 and then moved to West Point.
Oley served on several missions in addition the two mentioned above. He and Fanny went to the Northwestern States (Vancouver and Victoria) in 1928. In 1940 he and Fanny went to the California Mission where they served until her illness and they returned home.
After her death, he married Josephine Deseret Romrell Mills, (Fanny's sister) and they went on a mission to California. They returned home when Josephine's health failed. After her passing he married Leona Ossman Homer, niece of his former two wives. She gave him kind gentle care in his aging years to the time of this death.
