Olive Mary Tew

1934, Olive is a student at MacRob Girls High School and published an article in the school magazine about John Beall Herbert.

Olive Herbert, on the next page, tells us of John Beall Herbert, who in 1848 came out from Yorkshire, and as overseer of convicts, supervised the construction of the road through Richmond Flats, which Is now Bridge road; captivated by the lure of gold, he was unlucky on the diggings, and returned to take up brlckmaking at Glenferrie, with such success that houses made from his bricks are still standing. In 1939 and 1943 Olive is living with her mother Alice at 140 Princess St Kew. There are several Herbert families in Kew. Very difficult to find evidence of her marriage, or even the existence of Edward. There are several Tew families that arrived circa the gold rush period. Some are Chinese and some English or American. Edward Thomas Anzac Victor Tew 1919 - 1975, is a possibility, in which case his father was Albert Edward born 1894 -1970, in Lancashire, son of William Tew (Lancashire), who married Thelma Edwards, daughter of Mr & Mrs A C Edwards late of Hobart, in March 1919.

Olive had 3 stepchildren with Edward.

In 1949, Olive is a typist still living at 140 Princess St Kew. In 1949 Edward Thomas Anzac, salesman, lived at 103 Hotham St Melbourne. His parents and sister were next door at 101, and his wife, Dorothy May Tew was in the AWAS, and also at 101 Hotham St. In 1954 Edward lived at 30 Spruzen Ave Nth Kew with first wife Dorothy May Tew, and Olive is still with her family in Princess St. By 1963 Edward was married to Olive and they lived at 30 Spruzen Ave Nth Kew. Edward was a clerk.

MARRIAGE Olive married Edward between 1857 when Dorothy died, and 1963 when they appear together on the electoral roll.
