Oliver Henry Washburn

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6 for Oliver Henry Washburn who died at Dakota Hospital June 3 after a long illness. Mr. Washburn was born April 27, 1900 in Vermillion. He married Ebba Nelson on Sept. 21 1927 in Sioux Falls. He was a retired farmer. He also spent nine years as custodian at the United National Bank. Mr. Washburn was a member of the building committee for Trinity Lutheran in Vermillion, an usher in the Meckling Lutheran Church and in Trinity Lutheran and was a musician for many years. He was a graduate of Fairview Rural School. Scripture services were held at the Wagner-Iverson Funeral Home Tuesday evening. Officiating was the Rev. Jacob Askeland. Organist was Mrs. Janice Lee. Rev. Dale Larson will officiate at the memorial services at Trinity Lutheran Church at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery. Organist will be Carol Neuhaus and vocalist will be Marlys Miller. Selections are "How Great Thou Art: and "The Lord's Prayer." Honorary casket bearers will be Hollis Lind, LeRoy Lind, Linzy Malone, John Sealey, Howard Morse and Art Olson. Active casket bearers will be Howard Willson, Jess Severson, Orville Severson, Ivan Jensen, Hugo Swedin and Harvey Hubert. Survivors include the wife, an aunt Ella Washburn of Sioux City, Iowa; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Vermillion Plain Talk, Vermillion, South Dakota, June 7, 1973
