Ozyas Yehoshua Kahane

To facilitate family merge and further study, Ozyas and Abraham Yosef Kahane are tentatively identifed as brothers, a scenario we consider very plausible. Communication is encouraged.

The shteytls where our family lived are located some 70 kms west of Chernovtsy (Pistyn, Kosiv, Vyzhnitsia, Kobaky, Banyliv), 25 kms north of Pistyn (Kolomyia), possibly 180 kms norht of Kolomyia (Przemyslany) and 50 kms south of Chernovtsy (Radauti, Suceava and Sipot). Sighetu is located some 90 kms south-west of Kosiv. Chernovtsy itself plays a very central role. Names of towns have been spelled as in Google Earth.

Yehuda Kahana (great grandson of Ozyas) and Isaac Meilijson Engel (husband of Sara Rennert, great granddaughter of Abraham Yosef).
