When John Jackson Booker was born on March 29, 1839, in Monroe, Alabama, his father, William, was 23 and his mother, Martha, was 19. He married Rebecca Patrick on March 9, 1865, in his hometown. They had nine children in 31 years. He died on February 16, 1929, in Conecuh, Alabama, at the age of 89, and was buried in his hometown.
