About Patrick Laurence

Patrick Laurance died October 1781, and is buried in the Laurance family plot (lair) in St Bean's churchyard, Kinkell, along with Peter and Janet, and another family I have yet to trace. BAPTISM I cannot find a record of Patrick's baptism so have used the details from his gravestone to date and place him. The nearest Patrick I have found was born at Kinnell in Angus - not far away, but wrong father.

I am not certain I have got Patrick's place in the family spot on, but his father is correct, his mother, his wife, his brother, and the locations because they are all on his gravestone. Any mistake will be in placing his father and mother where I have put them, but they seem to be a good match, and if they were not close family they would not be in the family plot.

MARRIAGE Patrick married Hellen Pearson at Tibbermore on either 13th or 15th August 1758. Pat. Last name Laurance Marriage year 1758 Marriage date 15 Aug 1758 Marriage place Tibbermore,Perth,Scotland Spouse's first name(s) Hellen Spouse's last name Pearson Place Tibbermore County Perthshire

Patrick and Helen seem to have no children, perhaps explaining why Helen put Pat's brother on the gravestone. He must be one of the last Laurances to have a name inherited from the early foundations of their church in Celtic Irish Catholicism. I have pictures of his very interesting gravestone which I will add. It is so elaborate it suggests this part of the family were quite well off.
