Paul S. Hess

Paul S. Hess, 89, of Millersville and formerly of Conestoga, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. He was the husband of Edith A. (Lefever) Hess for over 63 years. Edith died on December 2, 2011.

Born July 22, 1923 in East Donegal, he was the son of the late Rev. Amos and Ada ­(Stoner) Hess.

Paul worked as a dairy farmer for most of his life until his retirement in 1988. Following retirement, he volunteered a lot of his time with Meals on Wheels, was a driver for the Amish and was an active volunteer at the Water Street Rescue Mission, Lancaster. Paul was also a ­member of Pequea Brethren in Christ Church, Pequea Township.

He will be lovingly missed by his five children: Dean R. Hess, husband of Susan, of Danvers, Mass.; Gary G. Hess, husband of Louise, of Millersville; Parke G. Hess, husband of Diana, of Conestoga; Anna Ruth, wife of Roger Smith, of Lancaster; Cynthia G., wife of Duane Niesley, of Marietta; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one sister, Martha Hess, of Mount Joy. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Brubaker, and a foster brother, Samuel Kinsey.

A Celebration of Paul's life will be held at the Pequea Brethren in Christ Church, 40 Church Road, Lancaster, PA, 17603, on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11 AM with Pastor Daleen Charles and Pastor Dawn Groff officiating. Private Casket Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the church on Friday between 10 and 11 AM. There will also be a visitation in the Chapel at the Mennonite Home, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Thursday, ­September 20, 2012 between 6 and 8 PM. Kindly omit flowers.
