From FindaGrave: Buried here in an unmarked grave. Peter was thought to have moved to Bedford,Pa. about 1794 to 1797. He erected a sawmill and gristmill there. Records also show him as a storekeeper also. Peter donated $100 towards the building of the first Catholic church in Bedford. It was also thought that Peter was a Revolutionary War soldier. PETER ARNOLD Shortly after the War of the Revolution, came Peter Arnold (sometimes spelled Arnolt) from Lebanon Township, Lancaster Co., Pa to Bedford County and purchased land in Colerain township. he was the eldest son of John Arnold Sr., and his wife Elizabeth Garman Arnold. John Arnold Sr., sold his land in Frederick Co., Va., and came to Lancaster County about 1760. Peter Arnold was born and raised in America, and served in Revolutionary War under Capt. John Stone, Lancaster Co. He was three times married and from his second marriage descend Frederick L. Arnold, almost all of the Arnolds of Bedford Co., and Fannie Heckerman Cessna (Mrs.. Howard Cessna) Henry, another son, was the ancestor of Franklin A. Arnold and Walter S. Arnold both residents of Bedford. Background on Capt. John Stone: unit could have been either 4th Class, 6th Battalion of the Lancaster Co. PA Militia of Warwick Twp. or 6th Co. 2nd Batalion of the Lancaster Co. Militia.
