Petie Bouwer (1924 – 2012)
Brief overview:
Petie (88) who was grabbed by one of the attackers who tried to strangle her with a dishcloth, died a few days later. Her youngest son was working in the maize fields at the time. The attacker pushed back her head and threatened to slit her throat, because she had seen his face. She had dropped the panic button, but managed to pick it up. The perpetrators fled with an expensive collection of hunting knives, a laptop, cellphone and tool kit. Their accomplice who was waiting in the car drove away when the alarm went off.
The funeral will take place on Saturday morning at 11:00 from the old Dutch Reformed Church on the corner of Beyers Naudé and Nelson Mandela Avenue. The burial will be at her farm Syferfontein.
Petie's was murdered in Syferfontein outside Potchefstroom in the Ventersdorp district.
