Philip Medina
March 24, 1932 - Jan. 15, 2010

Philip Medina passed away peacefully at his home in Woodland surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. He was 77 years old. Born in Lindsay, to Lucas and Carmen Medina, Philip's family moved to Yolo County in the 1930s and settled in Woodland. Philip entered the military during his teens and after 20 years retired to Woodland. He then returned to college and earned his associate of arts degree to begin a new career in graphic arts with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District. When the "love-of-his-life," Yvonne, decided to work outside the home, he left the school district to work with her at the maintenance department of UC Davis. They both retired from UCD after 14 years of service. Philip also worked as an independent bartender for many years and "tended" various parties, weddings, and social events_new_new throughout Yolo County. He was well known for his good wit, wonderful can-do attitude, great smile, and greeting: "Hey Amigo."

In addition to his work career, Philip was very active with his family in the community. He attended many of his children's sporting events_new_new, and was always present with drinks and a pat on the back. He was a long-time attendee an d very well known at Cross Courts Athletic Club, where he entertained many of his grandchildren. His family was the center of his life and his children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have many a story to remember him by.

Philip is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Yvonne; four daughters, Geraldine and husband Vince Mendoza, Paula and husband Robert Reynaga, Melissa and husband Scott Teuscher, and Melinda and husband Chris Cumberland; five sons, Leo and wife Trudy, Lucas and wife Diane, David and wife Loretta, Steven and wife Patricia, and Eugene and wife Christina Medina. His loving grandchildren are, Vincent, Rebecca and Andre Mendoza; Philip and Tiffany Reynaga; Adam and Rachel Medina and Alan Hunter; Amber and Carl Medina; Trina, Jeremy and Zachary Medina; Christine, Nichole, Rachelle and Alyssa Medina; Samantha and Michael Medina; Spencer and Jack Teuscher; and Violet and Daisy Cumberland. His loving great-grandchildren, are Zabrina, Zerena, Mikaila, Priscilla, Andre, Philip, Eden and Layla. Also surviving are three siblings, sister, Josie Diaz; and brothers, Sam and Bill Medina. Preceding Philip in death were his parents, Lucas and Carmen Medina; and siblings, George Medina, Henry Medina, Hortense Nusz, Virginia Lavorico, Lupe Lavorico, Olivia Fletes, Linda Espinosa, Gilbert Medina, and a baby brother, Billy.

The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Philip and Merrilee Reynaga, Josie Diaz, Rachel Martinez, as well as Darlene and Hattie and the entire staff of Yolo Hospice. We couldn't have asked for better care!
