Philip along with his parents and two brothers came to the US before the Revolutionary War about 1771 at the age of 14. His parents died on the ship and he was sold as an indentured servant to Ulrich Conrad of Pendleton Co. Va at the age of 14.It is dated 11 Oct. 1771. I have a copy of the indentured paper.It has a note attached as to who has the original. However, I doubt if she is still living at this time Married Sarah Simmons in 1785 and settled on East Dry Run in Pendleton County. He owned a little over 800 acres of land in the Crabbottom (Blue Grass) of Highland County.

He enlisted in the continental Army after his release from servitude, serving as a Private until the end of the War of Independence. from 1770-1781 he served in Capt Peter Hull's company. On the Muster Roll, Capt Hull'sComapny , Second Battalion, Augusta Militia, 1779 signed up on Sept 6, 1794 under Capt William Jane- A History of Pendleton Co. WV (1910) pg 395.

He is on the partial list of early settlers, Revolutionary soldiers and the graves of Augusta County soldiers located to date- there are 2 citations to provide evidence for name and residence 2 citations provide evidence for name and arrival from the Passenger and Immigration lists Index, 1500s-1900's 2 citations provide Pennsylvania Indentures, 1771-1773. Sims Index has his name in 1772 for land grants in West VA Historical Register of VA in the Revolution, Chapter: Alphabetical Register in Revolution page 838
