Ben notes: Mount Comfort Cemetery is located southwest of Monett Township. The cemetery was probably fairly new when he was interred. The town (282 miles southwest of St. Louis in the southern part of the state) had only been recently created as a railroad junction between the St. Louis and Texas Railroad and the Frisco Railroad. It was originally named Billings, but the townsfolk petitioned to change the name to Plymouth in October 1871. Eventually, it would be renamed Monett on September 12, 1887.
