Pieter 'Piet' Frederik Fourie (1935 - 2004)

Brief overview:

Piet (69), and his son Private (38), were shot dead on their smallholding between De Deur and Meyerton on 11th March 2004. Kobus was shot dead in front of his three children, who shared the bedroom with him.

A very traumatized Marie told how she heard her brother pleading with two men in the early morning "I heard Kobus say, 'Please, please, don't shoot me.' "Then she heard gunshots and children crying hysterically. She heard her older brother begging the men not to shoot him. The next moment fired three shots. Little did the woman know that her father had already been shot dead - this on her birthday.

Piet Fourie was presumably shot dead first. He collapsed next to his wife in their bedroom door after he got up
the robbers fired. Lenie said it felt like she was dreaming all the time. "I wish I could wake up and say it was just a horrible nightmare "I can't describe to anyone what happened. It was terrible. Only our faith will get us through this,

Marie said the men later chased her, her mother and the three children to the front of the house where their hands is tied up. "The robbers kept swearing and pointed the barrel of the gun at me."

Much later, a large truck stopped in front of the house, after which the men practically emptied the house. According to Gert Fourie from Pretoria, his father and brother were shot with AK 47s.
