BROTHERS WILLIAM AND SAMUEL, INQUIRING ABOUT THEIR MOTHER.

Dear Brother, if thee has inclination of buying land here, that piece of land of Cox which thou came down in order to buy is now at liberty and to be disposed of and I have it engaged for thee such time t hat I can hear from thee for there is several others wanted to get it but Ratlif hath the disposal of it and he hath given me his word to keep it till I can have an answer from thee therefore if thou ever de sign to buy land here know to have thee to embrace this opertunity and if desire thee not to fail sending me thy mind about it by the firs t oportunity for fear some other body should get it. I have nothing to say in praise of it for though has already see n it thyself and therefore let it prais itself.

ON THE CERTIFICATE, WHERE ALL THE WITNESSES SIGN THAT THEY WITNESSED THE MARRIAGE, ELIZABETH MEAD SIGNED IN THE PLACE USUALLY DESIGNATED FOR PARENTS. WILLIAM'S PARENTS WERE IN ENGLAND AND DID NOT ATTEND.
