Polly Harmon (Dunn)

Mary Dunn married Mathias Harmon on Jan 25, 1791, when she was 16 years old and he was 21.

Over the next 10 years Mary and Mathias apparently had 5 children (Daniel, Jezreel, Henry, Mary and Nancy) each about 2 years apart.

When Mary was about 27 years old, and only about a year after their youngest child Mary was born, Mathias, then 33, died when the horse on which he was riding "ran between two trees". (From the "Harman genealogy (southern branch) : with biographical sketches, 1700-1924", page 158). At that point the oldest of the 5 children would have been about 9 years old.

Mary Harmon, just before her death at 75, appears in the 1850 census as living with her middle son Henry (52) and his family.

It appears that Mary lived as a widow for the 48 years after her husband's death. Her grave mark in the Harmon Family Cemetery says only "MARY / WIFE OF MATHIAS HARMON / MARRIED / JAN 25, 1791"
