1/5/2014 Found conflicting birth dates on 2 "Grant" websites listed above, but month and day are the same...just a different year 1925 compared to 1926 respectively. I tend to sway towards the 2nd site with this date as the child Priscilla was only 3 when she came over on the ship Mary and John in 1630.

 Biography

Priscilla was born in 1626. She is the daughter of Matthew Grant. She passed away in 1669. Her husband Michael moved to Simsbury, about 1670. [1]

Letter to Michael dated January 24, 1648 from his parents in Lyme:

" My Endeared son: I have not read one line from you this 10 months and now the intent is only to entreat you that you be pleased to write me a line or two wheather you may come on to me or no also of the livelihood of the place. If dead I shall entreat the pity to whom this may belong to return me an answer if by any means possible, that so I may know how passages dust go with your or any whom it may concern. ......Dear child U can say but little more, but omega the beginning and the end. Alpha everlasting none by him....My dear, the last letter I wrote unto you was the 18th of May, 1648 (sic) by a friend which God was pleased to give you life, came safe to your hand. In it I advised you the rec't of your writing six months before, by whom it did take notice of your marriage and also that you were gone further." The letter was written in capital letters flourished and apparently of the same hand. It is not known which parent wrote it, but both signatures are the writer. It is assumed that it was written by Susannah. HOUMPERY, Micall [Simsbury], m. Prissilla GRANT, 14 Oct 1647; children: John, b. 7 Jun 1650; Mary, b. 24 Oct 1653; Samuel, b. 15 May 1656; Sara, b. 6 Mar 1658; Martha, b. 5 Oct 1663; Abigayl, b. 23 Mar 1665; Hanna, b. 21 Oct 1669--Record of Marriages & Births Copied from the 1st Book of Records under the date 18 May 1674; transcribed by Samuel H. Parsons; New England Historical & Genealogical Register, Vol 5, January 1851, p. 63 & subsequent. This record was found in Windsor and also in Simsbury. At the time the children were born Michael and Priscilla resided in Windsor.

GEDCOM Note

Priscilla Grant, eldest known surviving child of Matthew Grant and his first wife Priscilla, per her father's diary either b. or bapt. Sept. 14, 1626 at an unstated place in England. Her father's diary does not state whether she was born or bapt. on the foregoing date. She was living Dec. 9, 1681 when given a legacy in her father's will. She presumably died prior to Apr. 1697 when many of her children filed suit alleging third parties were illegally withholding land that had belonged to their father at his death, in which Priscilla is not included in the suit. However, when she died is not otherwise of record. She is assumed to be interred with her husband at Hop Meadow (aka Simsbury Center) Cemetery, but by 1934 she had no individual gravestone.

On Oct. 14, 1647 at Windsor, Conn. Priscilla m. Michael Humphrey (q.v. Humphry), s. of Samuel & Susanna Humphrey, bapt. Sept. 10, 1620 at Lyme Regis in Dorset, England. He d. before Mar. 19, 1694/5 at Simsbury, Conn. They had seven known children who are outlined in their father's memorial.
