AKA Abraham Kettle, Sr.- Inscription is KETTLE, but some records spell it Kittle and the name varies between generations. Apparently, different family members preferred one spelling over another (?)

Abraham Kettle or Kittle was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, in Captain Anthony Shimer's Company, Colonel Jacob Stroud's, 6th Battalion of the Northampton County, PA militia in 1778, according to the muster roll for May 14th of that year he was a Lieutenant in this company. Pennsylvania Archives Fifth Series,Vol 8, p, 428.
Abraham Kittle married Christina Westfall in 1754 in Orange Co, NY. They migrated from New Jersey Colony to the south branch of the Potomac. From there they moved to the Tygart River Valley near Beverly, Randolph Co., VA.
After the death of Christina in 1801, Abraham married Mary Thickstone Scott on 12 Sep 1805 in Randolph Co.
Note* It is widely thought that his original place of burial is at Sullivan's Crossing with his first wife.
