Born in 1758 in County Cork, Ireland. Married Priscilla James in Frederick, MD and moved to Bourbon County, Kentucky. Then moved to Davies County, Indiana about 1810. Barr Township is named after him. Died in Edgar County, IL in 1842.


He was born in Ireland, but settled in Mass. Revolutionary War: Served in Col James Converse's regiment, then in Capt Frances Starr's company. He enlisted again in Sept 1777 with Capt Benjamin Nye's company and Col Nathan Sparhawk's regiment. Came to Edgar Cty and is buried near Flemington.
