Susanna Wise, age 18, and Jacob Moses, age 49, married in 1848. They were the parents of Phoebe Ann Mosey (Annie Oakley). Jacob fought in the War of 1812, died in 1866 at age 65, from pneumonia and overexposure from freezing weather. Children included Mary Jane, Lydia Mary, Elizabeth, Catherine, Sarah Ellen, Phoebe Ann, John Henry and Hulda.

Phoebe insisted her last name was spelled Mozee, but the military spelled Jacob's last name Mosey. At least one of his children spelled their last name Moses.

At a very young age Jacob joined the ATTALION (DAWSON'S), OHIO MILITIA, during the War of 1812
