About Pte. Wilfred Louis Harrison

Wilfred Louis Harrison was born at Fernside in Waimakariri in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island on 27 March 1886. His parents were William Harrison and Mary Ann Harrison (Allen) who married in Christchurch on 9 April 1867. His father, William, had arrived in New Zealand on board the ship Mersey which arrived on 26 September 1862. His mother Mary arrived the following year on 4 April 1863 on board the Lancashire Witch. Wilfred was the youngest of 10 siblings. He joined the Auckland Infantry Battalion during World War I (Service No. WWI 12/368). Wilfred was killed in action at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. He is remembered on Panel 72 of the Lone Pine Memorial in Turkey.
