About Pvt. John Alsop King Nightingale
John Alsop King Nightingale served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War in Company A, 1st Virginia Cavalry Regiment.
He enlisted on July 12, 1862 in Richmond, VA. He served with his regiment until November/December, 1862, when he was absent on detached duty, as a courier for General Fitzhugh Lee. After, which he was transferred to the Tran-Mississippi Department under General Edmund Kirby King. He was captured for a few minutes by the Union at Cold Harbor, VA.
