"Samuel B. Porter, a veteran of the Civil War and one of the best known residents of Maple Dale, died there at 8 o'clock Friday evening. He was aged 81 years. He leaves a wife and fourteen children, as follows: W. J. and James M. Porter and Mrs. John DeLong, of Maple Dale; Philip Porter of Utica; L. G. Porter of Sunville; Gilbert Porter of Rocky Grove; S. T. Porter of New Castle; George Porter, Mrs. Wilson Dunlap, Mrs. David Minnis, Mrs. Ed DeLong, Mrs. Lon Hoover, Mrs. John Terry, and Mrs. Philip Engle, of Franklin.
