Born in 1831, he was a farmer and with a family in Union County, Illinois. Initially, he was a member of the Illinois 109th Infantry Regiment, and later was transferred to the Illinois 11th Infantry Regiment. He was captured in Yazoo City, Mississippi in March of 1864. Daniel died on October 18, 1864 in the Confederacy's Andersonville Prison.
Daniel moved with his parents from North Carolina to Roane County, Tennesse in 1836, and then to Union County, Illinois in 1847.
Daniel married Susan Pippins (1833-1889) on 06 Mar 1852, in Jonesboro, Union County, Illinois. They had five children.
