Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in at the age of 18 as a Private in Company K, 45th Pennsylvania Emergency Troops on July 1, 1863, and served until he was mustered out on August 29, 1863.
He then was mustered in as a recruit Private in Company E, 95th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on January 26, 1864. He served until his death on June 10, 1864 at Mansion House Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia, of wounds received on June 1, 1864 at the Battle of Cold Harbor.
