About Qazi Hafeezuddin
Like his Father, the eldest son of Qazi Miran Bakhsh, was a septuagenarian, when he died in CMH, Lahore tended by his two wives, four sons and two daughters. He was buried next to his Father. His first wife Khurshid Begum gave birth to a son who died in infancy. The daughter Iqbal kept alive. The second spouse Zohra Begum had been named Iqbal by her parents but the changed name not only distinguished her from the step daughter, but also enshrined her as an out looking mother, who so stoutly supervised the education of her four sons-Ghias, Shuja, Saeed and Iftikhar as to equip them for outstanding success in life. She kept company with her daughter Naseem, since her husband’s retirement from service till her death on 04.01.1982. He joined service as a Forest Ranger and rose to the eminent position of The Chief Forest Officer, Baluchistan. His services were given recognition by the award of the titles of ‘Khan Sahib’ and ‘Khan Bahadur’. The entire family were buried in the house at Quetta in May, 1935 when the mighty earthquake came. All were miraculously saved. On retirement in 1945 he went to Rasul Nagar to live on the ancestral lands. The change over from city life was not easy. However, he persevered and added to his agricultural estate. Besides educating his children, he supported his youngest brother manfully to do his D.P.H. in England, after doing M.B.B.S. in Lahore.
