About R' Binyamin Kamenetsky
Suffered small-pox as a child and was partially paralyzed, preventing him from doing a lot of manual labor. He still helped his father (Samuel) out with the business at the estate learning a lot about the timber business.
Samuel picked out Ettel as his bride and they married in 1886 moving in to Samuel's estate Kalyskovska.
Their first three children Haim-Zorach, Yaakov and Dveira were born and although Binyamin had no job - his father Samuel helped him out financially. After Samuel's estate was reduced in size by the Russian Czar's land reform policies the family moved to Dolhinov where Ettel was originally from.
Income sources in Dolhinov were hard to come by and both Binyamin and his wife moved to Minsk in the winter of 1904. At that time their sons Haim-Zorach and Yaakov were already in Minsk having moved there several years prior. Haim-Zorach found a house the family rented and they lived on Bogadel'naya (Богадельнуая) Street today called Komsomol'skaya(Комсомольская) Street.
