Translation: At the same time, Rabbi Dr. Winter, a Chaplain in the German Military, settled in the city (Grodno). Rabbi Winter was enthusiastic about the idea of the Yeshiva Shaare Torah and took upon himself the holy task. By virtue of his influence, the economic foundation of the yeshiva was established, and its existence ensured. Through his multiple relationships he obtained monthly support for the Yeshiva from the German "Esra" Association.
