About Rabbi Lesel (Lazar) Brüll
Lesel Brüll was also known as Lazar Brüll. He was born in Rausnitz, Moravia about 1720, the son of Rabbi David (“Tebl”) Brüll. He moved to Prossnitz with his father in the mid-1740s, and remained there.
Lesel Brüll was a Rabbi in Prossnitz and served the community as a religious leader for many years. In 1769 and 1773, he is seen as “Lazar RAUSNITZ” on Prossnitz lists of Jewish residents.
To differentiate them from other branches of the Brüll family, Lesel's descendants opted to take the surnames of "Lazar", "Lesel", or "Lasus".
