Rabbi Natan Papenheim was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1904 to Yona. He was a cantor and married to Sheindl nee Fridman. Prior to WWII he lived in Berlin, Germany. During the war he was in Presburg, Czechoslovakia.Rabbi Papenheim was murdered/perished in the Shoah at the age of 37.

נתן (הבן של אוה ויונה) מוכלל בחמישייה, אבל רמת היחס אליה זכה מאחיו מאירמה ומאירמה עצמה הייתה יותר גבוהה משל הבן הבכור של אירמה (שנתן היה גדול ממנו), כאילו היה בן ואח ממש. מקרה שממחיש זאת, היה במלחמת העולם הראשונה בה יונה גוייס, וכדי להקל על הנטל הכלכלי הכבד בבית, נשלח אליעזר אל סבו וסבתו (מצד אירמה) ולא נתן. אליעזר שהה בבית סבו וסבתו עד התבגרותו/מלחמת העולם השנייה. חמותי קרלה אהבה מאוד את אחיה נתן ודיברה עליו עם המון געגועים.
