Rabbi Shmuel Aharon Flam

__When where they killed? __

Rabbi Shmuel Aharon is mentioned in the Yizkor book of Dubieck (Dubetzk). http://www.jewishgen.org/yizkor/pinkas_poland/pol3_00103.html on the last line (Shmuel Aron Flam in the English translation).

But according to that same source by 11 Tishrei, only 11 Jews were killed, INSIDE the town. The Flam couple perished later in Premishl. So probably AFTER the expulsion in 1939 - 5700. Which took place 14 of Tishrei.

So perhaps my 5703 was correct, and they perished a year, two or even three later, when the Germans took Przemysl? in 5702 (half year after 22 June 1941, 27 Sivan 5701 - the date of Barbarossa operation, Hitler's plan to capture Russia, and the beginning of wide killing of Jews) I changed it from my original 5703 to 5701, now I'm moving it back to 5702. If anybody has a source please notify me.

__ Em Lamikra ______ In the last pages of Halila Depischa his grandfather's Hagada reprinted with family history by family members, he is mentioned about printing his grandfather's sefer: Em Lamikra, printed in 1939 but lost and not found. http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pagefeed/hebrewbooks_org_4944_142.pdf Maybe somebody could go to Dubieck and find it.

__ Sending my uncles to the Dubetzker ___________ Some time before or during the War, my Zeidy Rabbi David Flam ZT"L, sent my uncles ZT"l Yisroel and Sholom to study by his brother the Dubetzker in Poland, but Yisroel sat on the suitcases, cried and refused to go. It turns out this saved them.

At a recent family occasion about a year and a half ago, we asked Mime Channa Rochel if she recalls this story, and she said she was probably in Eretz Yisroel at the time by her grandmother Esther (Rubin) Flam, and does not remember this.

In 2011, (At Rivka Hirshowitz's Succa on Hoshana Raba) Pearl, my aunt Chana Rochel's daughter says her mother told her this story, only about Itzik the oldest brother, and that because of the war they decided not to send him...

---Memories and pictures, Going back ---------------- According to the Rubin women (YomTov Rubin's sisters) who live above the Tzoref Shel Kessef store in Geula, they remember him well as little girls, his good eyes, and grand beard. He went back from Jerusalem (they had an appartment on Straus street) to Dubieck to become hassidic rabbi of the town.

(Added by Moshe Flam of Bayit vegan) He married the daughter of the Dubetzker rav and I assume that he took over his Father in laws poosition after he was Niftar

According to the komarna of Bet Shemesh (Rabbi Eliezer Zvi Safrin) his half brother who lives on Yissa Bracha (above my late Zeidy ZTL) or his brother the Komerna of Arzei Habira has some nice pictures of him.

(Added by Moshe Flam of Bayit vegan 5774) About ten years (~5703) ago on Simchas Torah, I was asked by Rav Aharon Meir Warshawer if I was related to the Dubetzker Rav. I asked him how he knew him and yes he was my great uncle. This Warshawer as a child lived in Krenitz which was a place that the European rabbonim would go for vacations. He met many of the gedolim there and he remembered Reb Shmuel Aharon. He said that he was tall and distinguished looking and he was very "Sharf". (Added by Moshe Flam of Bayit vegan)
