About Rabbi meir tannenbaum A.B.D. putnok

Jews lived at the beginning of the 19th century in Putnok, but this community was not established until 1852 as a community of faith. At the same time, their Chevra Kadissa was organized. There are tombstones in cemetery with an older date. The first rabbi of the community was Braun Solomon, who was their chief rabbi until his death in 1873. After the death of their first rabbi, they elected Tannenbaum Jákov, born in Szendrő, who was previously in Tállya from 1858 to 1869, and from 1869 onwards. Until 1873 he was the rabbi of the community of Mezőcsát. He edited his work in Putnok. He established a visited yeshiva, whose students were cared for by members of the faith community. After his death in 1879, his son, Martin Tannenbaum, was elected. After the death of Martin Tannenbaum, his son-in-law, Teitelbaum Heiman, is elected chief rabbi. The rabbi, who enjoyed great popularity, was lovingly surrounded by his followers. In Hitler's time, the chief servant judge in Putnok was the extremely Arrowhead Mogyorósi, who introduced many Putnok Jews to the Garany internment camp by inventing various excuses. Naturally, he also instigated the rabbi of the faith community. This fate was shared by the rabbi's son-in-law, Rabbi Lipa Groszman (who is currently living in Tikván Petach). The chief rabbi was taken by the death train to Auschwitz - together with his followers they gave souls for their Jewry
