1776 Project. Private Nathan Blevins served with Washington County Militia, Virginia Militia during the American Revolution.

Nathan Blevins b. 1763. Nathan appears on the 1777 Montgomery Co., Va, militia list.

Nathan was born on Haw River in NC. He participated in the American Revolution. Nathan’s Revolutionary War pension application indicates that his father moved to Montgomery County, (now Grayson) County, VA when he was a small boy; and he was living in Montgomery Co, VA, when he served in the militia and when he was mustered into service in the War for Independence. Nathan was marched first to Whitton's Fort at the head of Clinch River (Russell County, Va) for six months. His pension application states that he lived on the Clinch River after the war for five years (Russell Co with the Charles Skaggs family); then moved to Green County, KY.

He married Rachel Skaggs, daughter of Charlie and had three sons, Rachel died, and he married Lydia Vaughn Pepper 1803 Green Co Ky. The boys by Rachel Skaggs stayed in Greene Co, and Charles was a defendant in a Skaggs lawsuit over Moses Skaggs land.
