About Rachel Bouldin
The Bouldin Saga by Katherine Harbury states that the first provable was William l born about 1624-1630 and married Rachael Lewis? from which he later separated. His marriage to Rachael is devoid of surviving children. His next love was Mary Thwaite. With which he had two sons William ll b- 1664-1666 and Thomas b- 1665-1667 who died a young child. William died on 17 April 1734. William ll Married Thomasin Nash and their children included Col Thomas and his siblings.
In a deed dated 14 March 1670, William Bouldin I gave 300 acres to his then wife Rachel, Morgan Lewis, and his heirs. The term, then wife, normally refers to a pior wife alive at the time of a document.[xxxiii] While it is technically correct that Rachel was William Bouldin I’s first wife, records in Maryland revealed another meaning with a different twist. Morgan Lewis later made a will on 6 January 1675 and bequeathed the land to Rachel. By 1680, ten years had passed, and presumably, Rachel had not heard from William Bouldin I. Now free to dispose of her lands as she saw fit, Rachel sold a portion of her lands in 1680 to Benjamin Clements for life and then to his daughter Ann.
DNA researchers have linked the Bowling surname to the descendants of Thomas "of the Swan" Bouldinge.
