About Rachel Overman Haisley

From WikiTree: On 8-24-1837 Rachel daughter of Jesse & Keziah deceased Wayne County married Josiah son of Ezekiel & Mary Haisley Wayne County, at Arba MH. They had six children. They took over her parents farm in the north-west part of Franklin township. Jesse Overman settled where Josiah Haisley resides, on land adjoining the north line. (History of Wayne county 214). The 1865 Citizens and Soldiers Wayne County directory records him as a farmer residing on the Chester & Arba Pike, Franklin township, adjoining Randolph County. She died in 1872 and he remarried to Mrs. Ann Perkins in 1873; he died in 1880 and all of them were buried in the Arba Friends cemetery. One of their sons. David Haisly, farmer and stock-raiser, was born Aug. 3, 1850, on the farm where he now resides, in Franklin Township, Wayne County, Indiana, and is the eldest son of Josiah and Rachel (Overman) Haisly. In early life he attended the common schools, and completed his education at Earlham College, Richmond, Indiana. December. 19, 1873, he was married to Belle Britton, a daughter of Daniel and Louisa Britton, of Randolph County, Indiana. To this union have been born five children: Edwin E. Frank, Gertrude, Vernon and Nellie. After our subject's marriage his father removed to Arba, Randolph County, Indiana, where he died. Mr. Haisly still resides on the old homestead, which contains ninety-seven acres of well-cultivated land. He has erected a fine residence which is surpassed by none in this part of the county. He is a member of the Friends' Society, and politically he is a Republican. History of Wayne County, Indiana;Volume II, (1884) Franklin Township p. 407.

She married Josiah Haisley and they had at least 5 children, Keziah in 1842, an infant daughter in 1848, David in 1850, Irvin Clifford in 1853, and Francis T. in 1856. Rachel passed away March 14, 1872, in Randolph County, Indiana, and was buried in the Arba Cemetery in Arba, Randolph County, Indiana. Her headstone inscription reads: Rachel Wife of Josiah Haisley Died 3rd month 14, 1872, Aged 54 yrs. 3 mo. and 9 days, per Find A Grave.com:
