Rachel TURNER was born c1761 or 1762

Rachel was convicted of stealing and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She arrived in Sydney Cove on 6/6/1790 on "Lady Juliana"

Rachel had a relationship with John WHITE and they had the following children

  • Andrew Douglass 23/9/1793

John returned to England on "Daedalus" on 17/12/1794, leaving Rachel and Andrew behind. John continued to financially look after Rachel and Andrew until her marriage in 1796

Rachel married Thomas MOORE on 11/1/1796 at Sydney. There were no children from this marriage.

Son Andrew followed his father in 1800 on "Reliance". Note: some sites have Andrew accompanying his father in 1794. Andrew returned to Australia in 1823

Her son Andrew died in 1837 and left his Waterloo medal to Rachel.

Rachel died 13/11/1838 at Liverpool and was buried on 16/11/1838
