About Rachel Verda Wright

Rachel Verda Bradford Wright, 88, beloved mother, grandmother, died May 19, 1996.

She was born December 13, 1907, in Fairview, Utah to George Washington Bradford and Rachel Ann Shepherd.

She married Ernest Lynn Wright September 12, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was privileged that she was a great-great-grandchild, six time removed, of Governor William Bradford of the Mayflower.

Also her great-grandparents were early Mormon pioneers.

Served a mission with her beloved husband in England.

Also served as a Relief Society president, Jr. Sunday School president, Stake Board for Young Women, a teacher in MIA, Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society.

In the community she served as a PTA president, a Cub Scout den mother.

She also served as president of the Women's Auxiliary Postal Organization, and for many years served as a voting judge in her district.

She and her husband also represented their political party as state delegates.

She worked at the Auerbach's Store in the gift wrap department for almost 20 years and taught classes in gift wrapping on many occasions.

Survived by three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Anna May Bassett (Arthur L.), Mrs. Verlyn Kimball (Charles C.) Mrs. Afton Powell (Lars J.), Robert B. Wright (Trudy A.), and Wayne B. Wright (Shirley M.); 36 grandchildren; 84 great-grand- children; five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband, E. Lynn; son, Ernest (Ernie) L.; daughters, Geraldine and Velma.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 a.m. in the Salt Lake 10th Ward, 420 So. 800 East.

Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East So. Temple, Wednesday, May 22, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the ward one hour prior to services.

Interment, Salt Lake Cemetery.
