Biography
Rebecca Crawford, the daughter and only child of John Crawford and his wife Winifred (unknown), was born in 1633 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. She died on 8 Jul 1710 in Reading (now Wakefield), and is buried in the Old Burying Ground in Wakefield, Middlesex, Massachusetts.
She married twice. First to Samuel Sprague, and secondly to John Brown.
Rebecca Crawford married Samuel Sprague on 23 August 1655 in Boston, Massachusetts. [2] [3] [4]. “Married by the Deputy Governor Richard Bellinham.” He was the son of Ralph Sprague and Joanna Warren.

Lt. Samuel Sprague. The division of his estate who died intestate was made, October 3, 1696. It mentions his widow Rebecca, eldest son Samuel Sprague, son-in-law John Dexter who married Winifred daughter of the deceased, his son-in-law Ebenezer Austin who married Rebecca, another daughter of the deceased. Witnesses: Phineas Sprague, Samuel Howard and James Converse. Lt. Samuel Sprague with his sister Mary Sprague made choice of his uncle Richard Sprague of Charlestown for his guardian, 7 October 1651.
Rebecca married 2d John Brown on 24 June 1697 who was her husband at the time of her death. [4] [5]; his 4th wife. He was the son of Nicholas Brown and Elizabeth Leids, and the widower of 2) Ann Fiske 3) Elizabeth Bulkely. His only known child was Anna (1678-1740) from his marriage to Ann Fiske.
John lived on the farm now [1874] owned by Dr. Francis P. Hurd. He was Captain, Justice of the Peace, Selectman, and representative.
No children of her second marriage.
John Brown survived her death on 7 July 1710 and died himself on 11 Mar 1717 at about age 83 in Reading, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay. He is also buried in the Old Burying Ground in Wakefield.
