Biography ==Rebecca Lay was born September 9, 1666 at Lyme, CT. She was the daughter of "John Lay Junr", Drummer John Lay and Sarah Andrews. ≤ref>#S32 Lyme (Conn,) Vital Records, from TownRecords, Book I TAG 1:218≤/ref>

Rebecca married twice.≤br/> First she married Daniel Raymond, son of Richard Rayment. Richard, Daniel's father, was a mariner and had moved his family to Saybrook, CT, just across the river from Lyme, CT, the residence of Rebecca and her family. Daniel's first wife died in 1683.≤ref name="Raymond">Raymond, Samuel. Genealogies of the Raymond Families of New England, 1630-1 to 1886. New York: Press of JJ Little & Co., 1886 pp 4, 5.≤/ref> Rebeckah Lay and Daniell were married in Lyme, CT on April15, 1684.≤ref Name="barbour">White, Lorraine Cook, ed. The Barbour Collection of Connecticut Town Vital Records: Lyme. Vol. 1-55. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1994-2002.≤/ref> They had children:

• Richard Raymond, born in Lyme, CT, Jan 9, 1686;≤ref Name="barbour"/>*Samuel Raymond≤ref name="Raymond"/>, who married Lydia Burchard/Birchard; and
• Judith Raymond, who married David Kellogg. ≤ref name="Raymond"/>

After Daniel died, Rebecca married Samuel Gager, April 1695 in Norwich, CT.

Unfortunately, it seems that Rebecca’s death was not recorded, nor is there a legible tombstone left in her memory.
