Biography

Rebecca Wright-4013, the daughter of Abel Wright and Rebecca Terry, was born in Springfield, Hampden, MA 7 Sept 1692. She married first Jacob Ordway about 1711 and their first four children are recorded in Lebanon, CT. Three more children were recorded in Windham, CT. As Rebecca Ordway, Rebecca Wright-4013 married Isaac Lyman about 1729 and had two more children recorded at Lebanon. Rebecca Wright-4013 Lyman died before 6 Aug 1745 when Isaac Lyman married his fifth wife, Sarah Walcott, widow of Jonathan French.

Rebecca Wright-4013 lost her first husband between 1725 and 1729. As Rebecca Ordway she married Isaac Lyman before the birth of her first Lyman child 10 Nov 1730. Therefore Rebecca Wright-4013 could not have married Benjamin Smalley and and died in 1726. Rebecca Wright Smalley had children in Lebanon during the same time Rebecca Wright-4013 Ordway had children in Windham. Rebecca Wright-4013 Ordway continued to have children after Rebecca Smalley died.

The Rebecca Ordway who was Rebecca Wright-4013 Ordway’s daughter could not be Isaac Lyman’s wife because she married Gideon Hunt 7 June 1732 Lebanon, CT in between the births of the two sons of Isaac and Rebecca Wright Ordway Lyman.

Rebecca Wright-4013 was the daughter of Abel Wright and Rebecca Terry. A bequest from her father may explain why her records appear in both Lebanon and Windham records. “But his greatest purchase was, May 30, 1717, of Rev. Samuel Whiting, minister of Windham, of eight hundred and twenty-nine acres, partly in W. and partly in Lebanon, for 250 pounds, as the deed on record at Windham says. From these lands he afterwards deeds one hundred and for acres to his daughter Rebecca and her husband Jacob Ordway, in 1718 and 1720…” [1]
