About Rebecca Wilcox

Niece of John Barry, "Father of the US Navy"

Rebecca was the daughter of Jane Barry and an unknown man with the last name of Butler. It is not clear if Rebecca was born before or after her mother immigrated to the American Colonies. If the tale is true that their famed relative Adm. John Barry assisted their immigration, then she would have been born in Ireland since she was 12 years older than him. After marrying John Willcox, she moved to North Carolina and had many children.
