About Rev. Andrew Baker Davidson
Andrew Baker Davidson was the son of William Davidson, Sr. and wife Martha Baker. He was born in Botetourt County, Virginia in 1778. He married Susan Dormer of Rockbridge County, Virginia. He died in Lexington, Rockbridge County, Virginia in August 1861.
Andrew attended Liberty Hall Academy, graduating in 1807 as a Presbyterian minister.He served as pastor of Cook's Creek Church, Mossy Creek Church, Oxford Church and Bethesda Church. In 1814 he was assigned to a church in Lexington and became the principal of Ann Smith Academy, a girl's school. From 1815 to 1857 he was a trustee at Washington College in Lexington.
Andrew and Susan had five sons, all of whom attended Washington College. One son fought with the Union Army and one fought with the Confederate Army.

- William L. Davidson, physician, died in 1830.
- James Dorman Davidson, 1810-1882, studied law and wrote poetry.
- Alexander H. Davidson, settled in Indiana, became a general for the Union army during the Civil War, and died in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 28, 1868.
- Charles Baker Davidson, Episcopal clergyman, rector of St. John's Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, died October 5, 1874.
- Henry Gamble Davidson, teacher, physician, surgeon, served in the Confederate army during the US Civil War., died in January, 1884.
