Rev. Bishop James Whitford Bashford was the son of Rev. Samuel Morris Bashford and Mary Ann (McKee) Parkinson Bashford Trousdale. He was the husband of Mahala Jane "Jennie" (Field)Bashford. He was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: New England Conference 1880 F 1882 To Maine Conference by transfer 1884 To Genesee (now Western New York) Conference by transfer 1887 To Cincinnati Conference by transfer 1890.
