About Rev. Henry Goodloe
• Residence: bet. 1718 and 1726, Goodloe Plantation, Spotsylvania County, Virginia. 2862 According to Goodloe Genealogy by Paul Miller Goodloe, Henry's descendants lived in the house, with various additions, continuously until 1910 when the property was sold. An old family cemetery is located on this plantation in Spotsylvania County.
This home was mentioned briefly on the ABC-TV evening news of 1 Feb 1977, with a picture of the remains of slave quarters in the basement; all in connection with a promotional announcement for the ABC show "Roots" from Alex Haley's book of that name. Haley's hero, Kunta Kinte had been owned by the Waller family, neighbors and close friends of the Goodloes in Spotsylvania County.
