About Rev. Jesse Vawter
A Patriot of the American Revolution for Virginia with the rank of Private. DAR Ancestor # A118384
Jesse was the son of David Vawter and Mary Offill. He married Elizabeth Watts on Mar. 29, 1781 in Culpeper Co., Virginia. They were some of the early settlers of the Jefferson Co. area of Indiana. Jesse was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and his grave has been registered by the DAR. He was also a Deacon of the Baptist Church and well respected by all. His grave marker reads: He lived in the State of Indiana for 32 years. He left surviving him 4 sons & 4 daughters, 71 grand & 54 great grandchildren.
