About Rev. Robert Delapere Croasdaile Robinson

Of Ballynavin Castle.

"All the Robinsons are buried in Ballingarry Church yard, both from Knockshegowna, and Ballynavin and many monuments have been erected to their memory.

"My Grandfather left no grandson of the Robinson name to succeed him." - A. de L. Kirkpatrick, 'Precis of pedigree of the Robinson family'.

Birth 24 Jun. 1805, Ireland, from Kirkpatrick Family History, https://kirkpatrickaustralian.com/getperson.php?personID=I14209&tre...

Ordained and admitted to the Diocese of Killaloe in 1828 - Irish Church Directory for 1865. He seems to have held no church appointments other than the Curacies of Kilmacduagh and Modreeny, but his celebration of the marriage of the Rev. George Stoney and Grace Robinson in 1867 shows that he was in good standing with the church.

Pedigrees compiled by Thomas Ulick Sadleir (National Library of Ireland GO MS 576) also lists children Thomas and Maria, and has Ruth marrying Thomas Alley in 1857: the last of these must be a confusion with Robert's brother Thomas's daughter Ruth who married Thomas Alley in that year.

Following a judgment in the Court of Queen's Bench, a mortgage on Robert's lands at Ballynavin, Cloughkeating, Liscounnon[?], Skough Bog, and Lackabrack was registered to the land agents Stewart and Kincaid in 1869 - Registry of Deeds 1869-8-212-213 and 1869-10-43-250.

He made a will on 19 December 1869 which passed obligations of his marriage settlement (17 September 1827) to his son Robert Delapere with a jointure for Robert's wife if surviving - Registry of Deeds 1873-6-15-145.

The Christian name Croasdaile (the surname of an executor of Lt-Gen. Robert's will) is recorded only in Registry of Deeds 1833-18-88 (where it is between Robert and Delapere) and (as Croasdale) in A. de L. Kirkpatrick; elsewhere he is named as Robert, Robert D. or Robert Delapere.
