Rhoda H Eby

Rhoda H. Eby, age 89 years, died after a brief illness, Monday, March 21, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Betty Jane and Mark Martin, of 14655 St. Paul Road, Clear Spring, Md.

Born Aug. 26, 1921, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Eli and Susan (Hege) Martin. She was a member of the Clear Spring Mennonite Church of Clear Spring and a homemaker.

She was the wife of the late Carl S. Eby, who passed away on Dec. 15, 2003.

Surviving family members include four sons, Kenneth and Fannie Eby, Hagerstown, Clifford and Alta Eby, Clear Spring, C. Lester and Mary Eby, Clear Spring, now serving in Ethiopia, and C. Leonard and Rosalie Eby, Mercersburg; two daughters, Betty Jane and Mark Martin, Clear Spring, and Erla and Ira Hostetter, Greencastle; two brothers, Henry and Iva Martin, Hagerstown, and Eli and Ada Martin, Chambersburg; three sisters, Susan and Charles Martin, Smithsburg, Catherine (Isaac) Weber, Hagerstown, and Mary and Lewis Coss, Hagerstown; 41 grandchildren; 165 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011, at 10 a.m. at the Clear Spring Mennonite Church, with ministers Darrel Martin, Dale Horst and Glenn Martin officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives at the Clear Spring Mennonite Church on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Friday.

The family requests the omission of flowers. Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
