Rhoda H. Hege, 96, a resident of the Mennonite Home in Maugansville, Md. died at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 in the home.
Born July 23, 1910 in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Jacob Henry and Anna (Horst) Risser.
She was a member of the Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss, Md. Her husband Adin Eby Hege died Feb. 17, 1994.
She is survived by five children, Doris L. Strite and Sharon M. Richards, both of Hagerstown, Md., Margaret R. Caudill of Uhrichville, Ohio, Lester R. Hege of Wellsboro and Lorraine A. Conley of Crockett, Ken.; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Martha Risser, Fannie Diller, Ada Petre, Anna Risser, Mary Martin and Esther Risser; two brothers, Martin Risser and Amos Risser; and two grandsons, Curvin Strite and Laray Martin.
Services were held on Friday, Dec. 1 in Reiff Mennonite Church near Cearfoss, Md. with the Reiff Mennonite Church Ministry officiating. Burial in the Mt. Olive Mennonite Church Cemetery, Maugansville.
Arrangements were handled by the Harold M. Zimmerman And Son Funeral Home of Greencastle.
There is a memorial for this person listed in another cemetery in Maugansville at 18509505, but I have just visited the Smithsburg Cemetery next door to my cousin in Smithsburg on Feb. 1, 2014 and took this photo myself at the Smithsburg Cemetery.
